Eaglesham's recent appearance at the Wakefield Model Railway show was very successful, and without a doubt the layout performed better than it has at any exhibition before.
Despite leaving the board bolts 250 miles away at home, after a quick trip to a nearby B&Q, the rest of the weekend went very well. We managed to have 2 DCC handsets working together which opened the operation of the layout up considerably allowing us to keep something moving at almost all times, and further the layout now has 2 working signals! We had a problem with the point operating rods slipping out of their location holes, this was due to the tiebars having slots to accommodate the operating rods from the solenoids previously on the layout, Bill is going to change these out for new tiebars. Any other problems were down to operator error. Looking to the future, we will be replacing the (recently built) fiddleyard traversers with train turntables to cut down on handling the stock. Highlight of the weekend was Bill being awarded the Best Rolling Stock in show for his breakdown train, he felt very humbled to receive this. We would like to send a big thank you to Steve Foster & the guys at Wakefield RMS for putting on a fantastic show and great hospitality. We hope to be back! If you havent visited the show before, we highly recommend it.
