Spring Update

24/3/2019

The last few months have seen us all beavering away on our individual projects, as well as getting Milton Street MPD ready for it's outing at the Preston show in early March

The layout was well received with a plethora of comments and many questions about the turntable.  Since its last exhibition appearance, Milton Street has had the Heljan turntable operating equipment ripped out, and replaced by our own home-cooked conversion to DCC - powering the bridge turntable by DCC.  This proved very, very successful with only one wobbly moment in the last hour of the saturday, where the chip in the turntable bridge reset to the default address, we fixed this before the show opened on the sunday.

We also used DCC to power more than one loco at a time, a first for the layout.  With 2 handsets, an operator at the front of the layout, and one at the back, we were able to keep things moving all weekend, whilst engaging with the public.

The Preston show also marked the return of Spencer to exhibitions, which he hasnt been able to do since October 2017, it was great having him around again (honestly!)  A very enjoyable show, at which we will be again next year with Eaglesham.

Spencer has also been busy on his new layout, Muir Street, the first 2 baseboards have been built, and work continues apace on the rest of them.

Bill has been kept occupied getting Eaglesham ready for the Bonnybridge show in April, and working on stock for various projects.

Michael has started planning his new layout, set on the Irish border, this will be a cracking layout when its built, though it wont be a quick build!

An update wouldnt be complete without a change to Joe's plans, and he doesnt disappoint!  He became very uninspired with the way Seething Lane was developing, so he scrapped it, and has started again!  New layout, still called Seething Lane, please see here for the latest re-incarnation!  He has been much more buoyed with this version of the layout and is progressing quicker and further than before.

As touched upon above, our next outing is to the Bonnybridge Model Railway Show on 27th/28th April.
