At Milton Street MPD's last outing at the Perth show, we decided that we would replace the solenoid point motors with servos, controlled by the Megapoints system. This was due to the failure of a couple of solenoids which significantly reduced the operating ability.
With Milton Street's next outing to Warley in November in mind we have started to fit the servos, which will lead to simplified, standardised, wiring and a new, smaller control panel. Another change will see the layout being operated from the front only (although we still need a wing man at the back to change the stock around!)
Disaster struck Gallowmere, after the trackwork had been ballasted, Joe found the baseboard frames to have warped to the extent that the layout had to be scrapped, with only the electrics and some woodwork surviving.
After the despondancy lifted, the reclaimed wood has allowed two baseboards of 4'x2' to be constructed, and Gallowmere has been redesigned to fit the smaller space. The changes to the plan have been detailed on the layouts webpage.
Our next outing is to the Cathcart Model Railway Exhibition over the weekend of 29/30th October 2016 with Helenston.
