Helenston

HELENSTON HAS WITHDRAWN FROM THE EXHIBITION CIRCUIT
Helenston is a 4mm/OO gauge layout set in Central Scotland in the early 70s to mid 80s.
The layout represents a run-down country station which is the terminus for a former ex NBR/LNER single track through route. Helenston features a single platform station with run-round loop, coal-drop siding and three stabling sidings used for storing the stock from nearby industries. The former goods yard has been razed and a siding laid for civil engineers trains.
Trackwork is Peco code 75 throughout, with Gaugemaster Prodigy DCC control providing track power with all motive power being sound fitted. Point and signal control will be utilising servos rather than solenoids, controlled via a Megapoints board.
Total size is 12 feet by 2 feet, over 3 boards and the layout has been designed to be extended at both ends, thoughts are already being given to adding another fiddle yard at the station end, allowing through running.
The layout made its debut at the Kyle Model Railway Show, 14th & 15th May 2016, and its operation was flawless (which surprised us all!).
After this years Cathcart Model Railway Exhibition show October 29/30, Helenston was withdrawn from the exhibition circuit.
